    Overall Tire/Tyre Review

There are only a few tire reviews for the Michelin Pilot Road 3 so far. The reports are that handling is as good or better than the Michelin Pilot Road 2. Wet handling is especially praised. In one test a rider could drag a knee through inch deep puddles, and said the tires were the best road tyres they have used in the wet. Others report quick warm up even in cold and that the bikes handling feels lighter. As of now this tire is the highest rated of any tires reviewed.

Summary of wet weather tyre test of Michelin Pilot Road 3 by Bike Magazine. Quote from Bruce Dunn: the Pilot Road 3 gave riders ‘more confidence and outright grip. I could confidently drag my knee through inch-deep puddles every lap. The Suzuki GSX1250 is a 275kg bike and these are road tyres. It was alarming at first, as I’ve only found this level of wet weather grip before with wets and without the movement you get from the blocks on a racing wet. These are the best road tyres I have used in the wet.’

Test on Triumph Street Tripple R. Only a dry weather test but they liked them after some tire pressure adjustment. One reviewer changed from PR2 to PR3 in the middle of a trip and felt as good or better than PR2. No issues with tracking over uneven surfaces.

Good article on what the PR3 is and is not. It is intended to be a sport-touring tire, not a sport bike tire.

11 reviews. 4.9 of 5 stars. On a VFR 800 – warm up quick, even in the cold, great feedback and traction. On a BMW R1150RT – now handles like a heavy sport bike, had bikes for over 40 years and has never felt the difference these tires make. On a CBR600RR – like riding a new bike, when corner feels like the bike is doing it for him. On a Speed Triple 1050 – have run Continental Road/Sport Attacks, Pilot Race, Pilot Powers and the PR2, great in rain or dry and seem like will last much longer than other tires.

6 reviews, 4.9 of 5 stars. On an FJR – makes the bike feel significantly lighter when cornering on twisty roads. On a 2002 VFR 800 – great feedback, great traction. On an FZ6 – before the change was getting blown all over the road, with the PR3 that has gone away, held the motorcycle glued to the road.

On a Honda VFR 800 – confidence inspiring grip, corner entry, traction, tires beg to go faster, felt good in the rain.
